Adult Faith Formation
The Lay Formation Institute of the Diocese of Sacramento
Mission Statement:
• Provides opportunities for adults to grow in their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and to contemplate and celebrate the mystery of Christ.• Prepare and train the lay faithful to assume their unique lay vocation to transform society, after the mind of Christ, through their Christian witness and action in the home and workplace.
• Prepares the laity for service in ministry and leadership positions within the Church.
Through the Institute, participants are equipped with a foundational curriculum which addresses Scripture, the Creed, Liturgy, Moral Life and Prayer. Further certificate coursework develops the theological background and professional skills necessary to truly live our faith and apply it to daily experiences.
The Lay Formation Institute provides adult faith enrichment opportunities and responds to the Diocesan Synod Pastoral Initiative 5: Provide opportunities for adults throughout the diocese to become more knowledgeable about the Catholic faith, to grow spiritually, and to receive training for specific ecclesial ministries within the Community of faith.
