Please, post your suggestions and comments regarding the Stewartship Council Mission Statement here.

Below is the outline that Kitty read at the Wednesday meeting:

1-3 verbs + subject + for whom and for what; a short statement giving core belief.

"To form loving disciples who will transform the world."

To be Christ centered in all that we do, and to sense God's love more than we did before.

It may help the viewers to know the newly adopted Stewardship Council's Description:

"The Stewardship Council focuses on the management of TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE to the church, to our community, and to our families. As a Council, we must act as a liaison with existing parish organizations, groups, school, staff and clergies. We assist in the process of gift discernment and integration into existing or new ministries and collaborate with the pastor to coordinate the temporal and spiritual life of hte parish."

just testing with my favorite...

"Just think, you are not here by chance, but by God's choosing.
His hand formed you and made you the person you are.
He compares you to no one else---you are one of a kind.
You lack nothing that His grace can't give you.
He has allowed you to be here at this time in history to fulfill His special purpose for this generation."

I think Father Jess also added TRUTH - leading others into the knowledge of the truth (in addition to Time, Talent and Treasure).

I think the above description pretty much captures the essence of what we think Stewardship Council should be. I just want to comment that the driving force or underlying goal must be to guide or lead the community to grow in BEING which will "naturally" (hopefully) cause the community to be DOING.

The last time I talked to Father Jess, he mentioned about the impact of people attending the Religious Education Congress - i.e. he was expecting to see something new in our liturgy. I told him that our liturgy is pretty much "in compliance". The issue is more on attitude of the faith community in celebrating the Eucharist.... not just having a Eucharistic celebration but getting the people to really "celebrate Being Eucharist".

For me, the impact I have been seeing is the renewed commitment and passion and enthusiasm of the people who attended.

Therefore - my input re: mission statement: "We all share in the priesthood of Christ. Therefore, we are all called to be shepherds of the flock; to be laborers for the Master of the harvest."
- i.e. we all share in the Pastoral responsibility of Father Jess, our pastor - this is our family, our community....
