2024 Easter Message

Please click on the post to view the full letter from Fr. Glenn and Fr. Jose. (Mailed to registered parishioners on Friday, March 22.)

Dear brothers and sisters of St. Catherine of St. Siena Parish community,

Happy Easter!

Amid the many challenges and difficulties that surround us, let us hold fast to the message of Easter: Christ is risen from the dead! This proclamation echoes throughout the Church, bringing hope and light to a world plagued by suffering and turmoil. Just as Jesus foretold his death and resurrection using the analogy of a grain of wheat, we too can find solace in the knowledge that through death comes new life and abundant fruit. The resurrection of Christ is the true hope of the world, a hope that never disappoints.

Let me take this opportunity to share with you the incredible developments taking place within our community, reflecting our commitment to living out our faith and spreading the Gospel message far and wide. Here are some key points to celebrate during this Easter season:

  1. Active Collaboration Between School and Church: Our parish has embraced a spirit of collaboration between the school and the church, recognizing the importance of education and spiritual formation hand in hand. This partnership ensures that our young members are nurtured not only academically but also spiritually, laying a strong foundation for their faith journey.

  2. Growing Number of Parish Members: It is truly heartwarming to witness the growth of our parish family, welcoming new members into our community and fostering a sense of belonging and unity among us. This expansion is a testament to our shared dedication to living out our faith and supporting one another on this journey of discipleship.

In light of these wonderful developments, let us remember that as members of this parish, we are called to be "Easter people," embodying the hope and joy of the Resurrection in all that we do. Let us continue to support one another, nurture our faith, and spread the light of Christ to all those around us. As we celebrate Easter, we also remember those among us who are homebound, unable to be with us physically in our celebrations because of illness and old age. Let us continue to pray for those who are mourning the loss of a loved one, feeling the ache of an empty space at the table and the void in their hearts. Let us offer them our prayers and support, knowing that Christ, who conquered death, is with them in their sorrow, bringing hope and comfort in their grief.

Again, amidst the challenges and trials, we face, let us not forget to count our blessings. Let us rejoice in the gift of life, in the love of family and friends, in the beauty of creation that surrounds us. Let us give thanks for the hope that Easter brings, the hope that springs eternal from the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

May this Easter be a time of renewal, of faith, of love, and of peace. May the risen Christ fill our hearts with joy and our lives with His grace. Let us go forth as bearers of His light, spreading His message of hope and salvation to all we meet. Happy Easter to you all!

2023 Christmas Message

Please click on the post to view the full letter from Fr. Glenn and Fr. Jose. (Mailed to registered parishioners on Wednesday, December 20.)

Dear Brothers and Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena Parish,

As we celebrate the joyous season of Christmas, let us turn our hearts and minds to the true meaning of this blessed day. In the midst of a world plagued by wars and troubles, we find solace and hope in the birth of Jesus Christ, our Prince of Peace.

Jesus, through His incarnation, passion, death, and resurrection, has opened the way to peace for all humanity. He came into this world not with the power of might and wealth, but with the power of love. His birth in a humble stable, surrounded by the warmth of animals, reminds us that true peace is found in simplicity and humility.

As we gather with our families and loved ones this Christmas, let us open our hearts to the action of God's grace and allow peace to dwell within us. May the message of peace that comes from Christmas extend beyond this festive season and create a deeper sensitivity to the needs of others. Let us be instruments of peace, bringing the love and compassion of Christ to those around us and beyond.

May this Christmas be a time of profound encounter with the Prince of Peace. May we, like the shepherds of Bethlehem, hasten towards him and contemplate the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

May Mary, the Mother of God, guide us in our journey towards a deeper knowledge and love of Christ.

Wishing you all a blessed and peaceful Christmas.

In Jesus, the Prince of Peace,
Fr. Jose and Fr. Glenn

2023 Easter Message

Please click on the post to view the full letter from Fr. Glenn and Fr. Jose. (Mailed to registered parishioners on Thursday, March 30.)

Happy Easter, Brothers and Sisters.

Jesus, the Crucified one has risen! The Church proclaims to the ends of the world the Good News that He has truly risen. The words of the liturgy, “Yes, Christ my hope is arisen; Christ indeed from death is risen, our new life obtaining” (Easter Sequence), proclaim that we should not despair, for Christ is risen to give us hope.

As we celebrate Easter, people often wonder where the resurrected Christ is today, and oftentimes the answer is heaven. But where is heaven? Yes, Jesus has returned to his heavenly Father, yet He is so much present in our lives today, especially in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. The Eucharist is the perfection of God in Jesus becoming like us in all things. Jesus is the Emmanuel, the God with us, in the form of bread and wine we partake. Jesus becomes like us in all things, except sin, and He tells us that He is with us yesterday, today, and forever. When He celebrated the first Eucharist with His disciples on the night before He died, He tells them: “Take and eat, this is my body, then He took the cup, and says, drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood.” (Matthew 26:26–28). Jesus, our Savior, “instituted the Eucharistic Sacrifice of his Body and Blood… in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the Cross throughout the ages, until He should come again.” (Sacrosanctum Concilium #47). The Eucharist is a memorial of our redemption through His passion, death, and resurrection.

Jesus has kept his promise. He is truly substantially, soul, and divinity, present in the Eucharist, and we adore Him, consume Him, and partake of His life, so that we become like Him. Yes, He suffered, He died, and He rose, but continues to be with us in the Eucharist now until the end of time.

Respectfully,
Fr. Glenn Jaron, MSP & Fr. Jose Estaniel, MSP

Bringing Hope in a Post-Roe California

This morning, the Supreme Court announced the issuance of the Dobbs decision. With this decision, both Roe and Casey are overturned.

Message from Bishop Jaime Soto on Bringing Hope in California After Roe

At different moments the disciples of Jesus were not always sure of where their journey would lead them. As Jesus approached his own sorrowful passion and death, the disciples were seized with fear and dread. To all the questions and worries, the Lord responded, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (Jn. 14.6) The response of Jesus was personal and faithful. He offered himself to the disciples as a faithful shepherd and companion who would not abandon his friends. He sacrificed himself for them.

With the recent Supreme Court decision, overturning the flawed 1973 abortion decision of Roe v. Wade, many people are worried about the uncertain future ahead of us. No number of years of standing precedence could erase the contrived legal machinations justifying the deliberate destruction of innocent life, but many still ponder, “Where do we go from here?” The political leadership in California is clinging stubbornly to the throw-away ideology of abortion refusing to imagine better alternatives for women and their children.

In the face of the pervasive hostile denial and distress, look to Jesus and follow his example. Our response to this historic moment must be personal and faithful. Since the 1973 decision, the Catholic community in Northern California has not only taught about the dignity of human life; we have earnestly sought out the ways to accompany women and families through many fears and uncertainties, including unplanned pregnancies. The Sacramento Life Center, the Mother Theresa and Bishop Gallegos Maternity Homes, and many other robust charitable Catholic organizations have offered a hand and given hope. In many cases, support and companionship made the difference for women and their children.

The disciples of Jesus in this generation were born for this moment. We were born ready to bring the hope and mercy of Jesus. The Lord speaks to our hearts: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” May our words as well as our works of mercy continue to echo this saving message for others.

Now is a critical time for people of faith to become even more involved in assisting women, children and families in California needing help during an unexpected pregnancy and beyond. Our support will make the difference so that all families can flourish. Find out more at WeWereBornReady.com.

Join me in praying that we may personally and faithfully accompany others on the path to the way, the truth, and the life that Lord Jesus has given us since the very moment of conception. May the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary grant us the confident grace to bring ourselves and others to the fullness of life.

Prayers during the Mass

ANGELUS

In the name of the Father….

V. The Angel of the Lord declared to Mary.                  ‘

R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary….

V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

R. Be it done to me according to Your Word.

Hail Mary…

V. And the Word was made Flesh.

R. And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary…

V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.

R. That we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.

LET US PRAY  Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ Thy Son was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Glory Be….

In the Name of the Father…

ST. JOSEPH PRAYER

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,

Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

To you God entrusted his only Son;

in you Mary placed her trust;

with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too,

show yourself a father

and guide us in the path of life.

Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,

and defend us from every evil. Amen.

ORATIO IMPERATA

God our Father,

We come to you in our need

To ask your protection against Corona Virus,

That has claimed lives

And has affected many.

We pray for your grace

For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause

Of this virus and its disease

And of stemming the tide of its transmission.

Guide the hands and minds of medical experts

That they may minister to the sick

With competence and compassion,

And of those governments and private agencies

That must find cure and solution to this pandemic.

We pray for those afflicted

May they be restored to health soon.

Grant us the grace

To work for the good of all

And to help those in need.

Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son,

Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God, forever and ever. Amen.

ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

O My Jesus,

I believe that you are truly present

in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist.

I love you above all things and desire

to receive you into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment

receive you sacramentally,

Come at least spiritually into my heart.

I adore you with profound reverence and

embrace you as if you were already there

And unite myself wholly to you.

Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
